Kazunoko & Matsumae-zuke Set

Kazunoko is herring roe, firm and densely packed, with a texture that pops between the teeth and releases a mellow taste of the sea. It is a traditional dish of the Japanese New Year, and its golden color has long earned it the name yellow diamond. This set pairs it with a matsumae-zuke kit so you can make the Hokkaido classic at home.

How to make the matsumae-zuke: 1. Mix the enclosed concentrated sauce with 250cc of water. 2. Add the dried squid and kombu, and stir. 3. Refrigerate for one to two hours. That is all. Add scallion, carrot or extra kazunoko to taste. No rinsing is needed. Keep refrigerated once prepared and enjoy within a few days.
