Japanese Tea, from the Regions That Define It

Four teas, four places. Shizuoka and Uji are the two names that shaped Japanese green tea; Chiran in Kagoshima brings a southern brightness. Each leaf is sourced directly from the farms that grow it.

Not sure where to start? Steaming time is what separates these teas. A longer steam (fukamushi) gives you sweetness and body. A standard steam (futsumushi) keeps things crisp and clear.

Uji Green Tea Leaves from Kyoto 3.17oz (90g)

Uji has been Japan's most storied tea region for eight centuries, and its sencha is prized for one thing above all: clarity. This is a standard-steamed sencha with a crisp, refreshing character - a clean fragrance, a measured astringency, and a faint sweetness underneath, all held in balance.

Bright and bracing, the way Uji tea is meant to be.

Honyama Green Tea Leaves from Shizuoka 3.17oz (90g)

Shizuoka is to tea what Koshihikari is to rice: the benchmark everything else is measured against. This is deep-steamed sencha from that region, where a longer steaming draws out more of the leaf's natural sweetness and rounds the flavor into something smooth and full-bodied.

Rich, green, and unmistakably of the mountains.
